A journey by bike from Vic to Montserrat and on to Barcelona, following quiet tarmac lanes and gentle gravel roads that invite you to slow down and really take it all in.
With Trek and Ride, this one-week cycling experience leads you through the very heart of Catalonia, tracing sections of the historic Way of Saint James as it passes through landscapes shaped by centuries of history and everyday life. The route flows through lush forests, rolling vineyards, and beautiful natural parks, linking timeless villages with a strong sense of place.
Around 30% of the itinerary follows peaceful gravel tracks, adding a touch of adventure while keeping the riding accessible and relaxed. It’s perfectly suited to gravel bikes, trekking bikes, or e-bikes, so you can choose the rhythm that feels right for you.
Each day brings new discoveries: Romanesque churches tucked away in the countryside, medieval towns full of character, and fascinating glimpses of Catalonia’s rural and industrial heritage. One of the great highlights is reaching Montserrat, home to Catalonia’s most iconic monastery, dramatically set among jagged mountain peaks that feel almost otherworldly.
As you roll closer to Barcelona, the landscape opens up. Panoramic views stretch from inland plains to the Mediterranean coastline, offering a memorable contrast to the quiet paths that came before. Evenings are for unwinding and enjoying the region’s outstanding food and wine — simple, honest flavors that reflect Catalonia’s deep culinary traditions.
This is not about racing from place to place. With Trek and Ride, it’s about travelling thoughtfully, connecting landscapes, culture, and cuisine into a cycling journey that stays with you long after the ride ends.
Time to say goodbye. We will see you on the next Trek&Ride tour!
This route can be adapted as you cycle. You can choose between a difficult option (level 4 of 5) and a medium option (level 3 of 5). The terrain varies from rural, paved roads to wide forest roads without technical difficulties. Our mountain bikes are equipped with 21 gears, front suspension, and panniers. You can also rent an e-bike. The route winds through the unspoilt and unknown Catalonia, passing deserted roads, small villages, and iconic monuments such as the monastery of Montserrat, the historic town of Vic, the modernist buildings of Terrassa, and, of course, the impressive metropolis of Barcelona.
The terrain is composed of 60% off-road and 40% backroads, with a few big climbs.
We recommend this tour for children aged 14 or older who are used to doing sport.
