Cycling from the capital of flamenco to the coast
Experience the magic of southern Spain on two wheels as you cycle from the heart of Andalusian culture in Seville to the stunning Atlantic coast. This unforgettable journey begins in Seville and takes you through a patchwork of nature parks, wetlands and whitewashed villages. You will cycle along quiet cycle paths, secondary roads and country lanes, following the route of the Guadalquivir River as it winds its way through pine forests, fertile farmland and centuries-old cultural heritage.
This self-guided tour offers the perfect blend of leisurely cycling, rich history and culinary delights. Stroll through the ancient streets of Cádiz, one of Europe’s oldest cities, sample Manzanilla wine and enjoy tapas in the sun on picturesque squares. As you leave Seville behind and head inland, Andalusia reveals its rural character and architectural splendour.
This route is designed for experienced cyclists who enjoy a challenge. An e-bike will make it a lot easier, of course.
Arrival in Seville, where you should take plenty of time to visit this beautiful city and its many monuments, such as La Torre del Horo, the cathedral, La Giralda, La Plaza España, etc.
You also have an appointment at the bicycle shop where you will pick up your bicycles.
Distance: 50 km / +463m / -237m
Today you will cycle through flat farmland and countryside. Leaving Seville via the cycle paths, you will find yourself in the surrounding agricultural areas and olive groves. The rural roads continue until you see the Moorish town of Carmona perched on top of the hill. Carmona is one of Andalusia's best-kept secrets, with a large number of beautiful monuments and historic buildings. The tapas bars in the central square are perfect for sampling the local cuisine and wines and soaking up the typical Andalusian atmosphere!

A challenging day through the hilly landscape with a few steep climbs. The reward is a ride through the Andalusian countryside, where the green fields are a feast for the eyes, especially in spring. The villages of Arahal and El Coronil are hidden in the fields. A final climb to the village of Montellano, a typical white village where life moves at a slow pace.
Distance: 67 km / +688m / -766m
A day to remember. You cycle through a very varied landscape along country roads and the Via Verde cycle path. Today there are three climbs on the menu, the last one to reach the beautiful white village of Arcos de la Frontera.
Distance: 56 km / +404m / -532m
After leaving Arcos de la Frontera, you will travel through a rolling landscape of vineyards and Andalusian fields. You will pass through small villages such as Junta de los Ríos and La Barca de la Florida – great places to rest, eat or drink.
Once you arrive in Jerez, you can enjoy the historic centre – the Alcázar, sherry bodegas and equestrian traditions (such as the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art).
Distance: 64 km / +345m / -387m
After leaving Jerez, you'll cycle through classic Andalusian vineyards, farmland, and gently rolling countryside. You cycle alongside the River Guadalete and as you approach Cádiz, you cycle through the marshes (marismas) in the Bay of Cádiz, a protected natural park. These are wetlands where land meets water, creating a landscape of tidal channels, salt flats, estuaries, and salt pans.
It is a place of strong ecological value: many sections are home to traditional salt production (salinas) and pisciculture (fish farms), and the changing tides sustain a rich mosaic of microhabitats.
Parts of the route run on a dedicated cycle lane.
