Hidden high in the Pyrenees, Andorra is a spectacular world of high mountain lakes, peaceful valleys and rugged peaks. This 8-day self-guided hiking holiday takes you deep into some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, from alpine meadows and pine forests to glacial lakes and panoramic summits. Based in carefully chosen mountain villages, you’ll discover a different side of Andorra each day, walking at your own pace and following carefully selected trails supported by detailed maps, GPS tracks and a personalised travel app. With comfortable hotels, luggage transfers and local transport included, this is an independent mountain adventure with everything organised for you.
Welcome to the Pyrenees! For this self-guided holiday, no arrival transfer service is included, giving you total flexibility over your travel schedule. You will need to make your own way to the charming mountain village of Soldeu. Once you arrive and check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to relax, unwind, and explore the beautiful alpine streets at your own pace.
Distance: 12,5km; Climbing: 925m; Level: medium; Time: 4-6 hours From the hotel you walk up the narrow streets of the village to start a long but easy climb through stunning pine forest. As we gain altitude, the forest makes way for endless alpine meadows bathed in the red of the alpine rose. You arrive at the high mountain lake of Siscaro, the perfect spot for a picnic. After a short steep climb you arrive at the “pas de les vaques”, the highest point of today´s walk (2593m) from where you have stunning views of the surrounding mountains. From here you descend through alpine meadows back to Soldeu.
Distance: 14,4km; Climbing: 825m; Level: medium; Time: 5-7 hours Alternative: the shorter option of 8,8 km and 600m elevation gain goes through the same valley and to the lake of Querol A short transfer of 5 min takes you to the car park of the valley of Incles. You start our walk with a moderate climb along the river and through meadows with an astonishing diversity of alpine flowers. You arrive at the lake of Juclar and continue to the col of Juclar, the highest point of today’s walk (2450m). You take a break to enjoy the views and a small snack before you descend via a narrow path along 3 stunning lakes. Before you begin the climb to the largest of today´s lakes, you rest and have a picnic. From lake Fontargente, you have a last short climb before you descend back to the car park.
Distance: 10,2km; Climbing: 913m; Level: medium; Time: 5 – 6 hours / change of hotel. Today, you change hotels so before you start your walk, prepare your luggage. A magnificent high mountain excursion to the mighty peak of La Serrera (2905m). A short transfer of 20 min takes you to the car park of Ransol. Through pine forest you climb to the mountain hut of Coms de Jan. The views from here are spectacular and you are surrounded by groundhogs. As you continue to climb, you might spot the bearded and griffon vulture. After 6 km of steady climbing, you get to the top of La Serrera, from where the views over the nature reserve of Sorteny are absolutely spectacular. You can avoid doing the peak and cross the col to then walk down the valley. The descent is through the spectacular valley of the Sorteny Nature Reserva. You will arrive at the car park of Sorteny, where our transfer service will pick you up to take you to your hote
Distance: 11,2km; Climbing: 540m; Level: easy; Time: 3 - 4 hours A more relaxed day as you venture out into the valley of the river Mandriu. A transfer of 30 minutes brings you to the lake of Engolasters. A virtually flat path leads you to the hidden valley of the river Madriu. You follow the river until you arrive at the mountain hut of Font Verd, an oasis of peace and tranquility and the perfect place for a picnic and for the brave, a swim in the ice-cold river. You return to the Lake of Engolasters via an ancient stone path. Our transfer service will pick you up after the walk to take you back to your hotel in La Massana.
Distance: 14 km; Climbing: 1340m; Level: difficult; Time: 6 - 7 hours The Roof of Andorra: Comapedrosa Your day begins with a private transfer from your hotel in La Massana to Arinsal, where the hike to Comapedrosa, the highest peak in Andorra at 2,942 m, begins. The trail climbs through forests and high-mountain landscapes, passing the Comapedrosa refuge and Estany Negre before reaching the summit, where spectacular Pyrenean views await. After completing the hike, your transfer will take you back to your hotel in La Massana.
Distance: 9,1 km; Climbing: 772m; Level: medium; Time: 4 - 5 hours Today you change hotels so you need to prepare your luggage for transport. The day starts again with a short transfer to the ski-resort of Arcalis. Here you start a steady climb of 4,5 km to the top of the Tristaina Peak (2876m). The views of 360º are spectacular as the deep blue lakes are glistening below.. You descend back to Arcalis via a stunning high mountain path. Our transfer service takes you to your hotel in Escaldes, on the outskirts of Vielha, the capital of Andorra.
