The Alpujarras, located on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada in Andalusia, Spain, is a region renowned for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and unique blend of cultures. This 8-day itinerary combines moderate hikes, cultural immersion, and stays in charming, traditional villages.
After or before the tour, we recommend visiting the historic town of Granada and the famous Alhambra.
After arriving at Malaga airport, we'll be transferred to Trevélez, one of Spain's highest villages. Situated at approximately 1,476 meters above sea level, this charming mountain village offers impressive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys of the Sierra Nevada. Its high altitude fosters a fresh and pristine climate that has significantly shaped the village's daily life, culture, and economy.
Trevélez boasts a rich history dating back to the Moorish period. The narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses still evoke that era. The inhabitants keep their traditions and crafts alive, including the characteristic architecture and agricultural practices of the Alpujarras. We'll take time to explore the village and enjoy delicious tapas and the famous jamón serrano, for which Trevélez is renowned.
